I love Fender guitars. Especially with an Antigua burst finish. Especially Telecasters.

I skeet about guitars and guitar stuff, like pedals and amps.

Pedalboard goals.
Went to a tiny club last night and saw Seattle darlings Deep Sea Diver. I paid $23, was like 5 feet from the singer, and had a really nice time. I guess I forgot that you can just do stuff like that? So if you forgot too, this is a reminder! Be good to yourself, go out and do things you like.

@tssf.bsky.social Hey, we’re you planning to ever do a Synthetic Origins of Mystic Quest? I was just thinking of how good that would likely sound because that game has nice music but kinda has the most rinky-dink sound quality of all the SNES Final Fantasy games. It’s a lot smaller in scope too.

@tssf.bsky.social Hey, have you ever thought of recreating the bonus unused tracks from All Sounds of Final Fantasy I + II with FamiTracker? I know you did an FF6-style “Battle 3” but I was thinking it would be cool to have those tracks with the original sound without the CD’s filtering and reverb.

I would use BlueSky a lot more if it let you turn on post notifications for people you follow. Some people I especially want to hear from and seeing they posted on Twitter would bring me in and then I’d look at other things afterward. How do they not have such a basic, engagement-boosting feature?

@iridescentaudio.bsky.social Hey, I wanna tell you that you and CHz intrigued me enough by your posts that I checked out Alien Soldier many years ago and it quickly became a favorite of mine that still looms large in my mind in some way.

Still love this. Feels like it gets at the little part of me that lingers from my childhood that was excited about this time of year instead of it just being another set of days that become weeks that become a month that is over.
my tweets are all deleted so i re-uploaded my 2020 era cover of "have yourself a merry little christmas," enjoy the sweet sounds of the fender rhodes www.tiktok.com/@midimyers/v...

I haven’t bought a ton of gear lately, but I did see Suzanne Vega, Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service, PJ Harvey, and David Gilmour this year, all of which were great, of course. Never thought I’d get to see The Postal Service, and I’m so glad I got to see Gilmour with my own two eyes.

Not sure why people are suddenly following me. Look at my new Antigua P-Bass, I guess.

Finally got myself a Flower Pedals Dandelion tremolo/harmonic tremolo. I’ve wanted to get one for the past few years but it wasn’t a high enough priority before. It’s pretty much the perfect tremolo with all the control you could want and it’s compact and attractive.

I put EMG SA pickups in a Strat to see for myself how they are. I was, of course, inspired by David Gilmour because I think his guitar tone on Delicate Sound of Thunder is among the best ever.

I always read that active pickups sound so different from passive, but that’s not what I’m experiencing.

It’s my birthday today and I don’t very much like the idea of celebrating my own getting older. But I can remember this as the day I got tickets to see PJ Harvey in September. Might even see her twice.

Got an Amplified Parts order in with a reverb tank for my Princeton (“Bordeaux Reserve” wine red tolex/wheat grille cloth), and some other stuff.

I’m not a big fan of the really springy spring reverb sound, so I like the MOD 3-spring short decay tanks. Sounds more natural than most reverb pedals.

I have seen more references to Marc Ribot and his guitar playing on this app than I ever have anywhere else in all my life combined. That must say something about the demographics on here, but I don’t really know what.

Annoying everyone by claiming that "humbucker" only be used to refer to Gibson-specific guitar pickup designs and that, historically speaking, the proper general term for any 2-coil noise cancelling pickup should actually be "Butts-Lover"

Fender made an absolute ton of guitars in midnight wine. It was a color option for the MIM Standard guitars and basses for around a decade.

I think it’s really great, looks very refined, but I think a rosewood fretboard would match better, so I bought an AmPro II neck. Now I have one classy guitar.

My enthusiasm for Telecasters extends to basses. This is a Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass, a body shape Fender has never made themselves, although G&L has an ASAT Bass that looks very much like this. It’s a 32” scale with a “Duncan Designed” ‘51 Precision Bass (Antiquity I) pickup.

The vintage EHX Polyphase and the modern Stereo Polyphase.

The Stereo isn’t really a reissue, lacking an envelope filter mode but adding a lot of tweakability. I think the base phasing sound is nicer in the original, but the Stereo gives manual control of the start and stop of the frequency sweep.

New pedal day: the SolidGoldFX If 6 Was 9 MKII.

It’s an attempt at making the ultimate Fuzz Face clone. The BC183 transistors are said to straddle the line between the sound of germanium and silicon, the voltage control can simulate a dying battery, and bias can give it that velcro ripping sound.

Today is the 55th anniversary of The Beatles starting production on the Get Back/Let It Be project, so to mark the occasion I’ve started watching the Get Back documentary for the first time since it came out.

Even if it isn’t their best work, still, what a great thing to be able to witness.
