Apparently US tariffs on Turkey is "only" 15% and Turkey produces 70% of hazelnuts. Maybe Thanksgiving-related price gouging (or is that cynical?).

22 bucks gets you at least a kg of hazelnut flour here. Is that a tariff increase?

I don't like milk except in cacao. And I love to have a drink that isn't sweet, feels like everything is sweet these days. I also like bitter teas 🙃.

I mean, Tolkien just invented a lot of his names, and still fumbled sometimes. And named one character ’Teleporno’. 😑

If I had the time, I’d really like to read the Torah and some other Jewish sources. There’s a lot of Jewish tradition and mythology I don’t really understand clearly (like details on (false) prophets and (false) messiahs). Maybe next year?

The only really good read in those parts is the incredibly fanciful Revelation of John, though it’s highly incongruous to the rest.

The rest of the New Testament has patriarchy, antisemitism, a ton of foreskin-lore that isn’t particularly appealing. And a ton of mundane stuff concerning the routine work of early Christians.

Some questionable or hard to justify stances, say on divorce, and obviously a lot of redundancy in the 4 gospels.

Anyway. I go to shows+ comic shops and see tons of male readers, male camaraderie, and general community-building. So we know it exists. It isn't just *gone,* as a lot of these think pieces suggest. But it has *moved.* It's following the arc of the general culture toward visual media.
