Part of the great exodus.

My area is construction, but nobody really cares about that, so my contributions will mainly consist of wanting to engage & learn from everyone else, and I'll throw in some half informed quip's for good measure

This is one of the most damning videos I’ve ever watched of Farage.

He essentially admits being racist at school - only says he didn’t do it “with intent”.

The quiver in his voice at the end - he knows he can’t squirm out of this one.
“I would never ever do it in a hurtful or insulting way”

Nigel Farage responds to allegations of racist behaviour from when he was a teenager at school

One of my micro campaigns these days is to highlight what a seriously nasty piece of work Douglas Carswell is.

A couple of reminders on Sam's Substack today....

Maybe a controversial view and would welcome @sturdyalex.bsky.social thoughts as one of the most thoughtful people I follow on sm

Labour should lead the reform of the ECHR

Reason: I feel that's the direction of travel anyway & better it done on labour terms rather than Tory, or worse, Reform terms

Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"

Yields on U.S. Treasuries rose Wednesday as investors sold government bonds, usually a haven. In Britain, a sustained version of that trend in 2022 led to the downfall of Liz Truss, the country's shortest-serving prime minister.

You can explain it to them but you can’t understand it for them.
-We may have a 10% Brexit 'dividend' but the cost of that dividend is the significant lost output since Brexit and trade dislocation with the EU, which the somewhat more generous US treatment does not even nearly compensate for.

Surprised to see so many headlines from news outlets suggesting Putin has agreed to a ceasefire.

He’s done no such thing. He’s basically said he would do in theory, providing his conditions are met, on his terms. Which is just a variation on what he’s always said.

The US stock market slump likely has only a little to do with the actual impact of the tariffs imposed to-date.

Instead, it's the market's assessment that the people in charge don't do their homework, don't consider consequences, can't implement, but refuse to let any of that slow them down.

Every day I think about something @morganj0nes.bsky.social said (paraphrasing from memory): “At some point you have to decide if you’re going to be led by your values or your resentments.” The anti-woke people, the anti-anti-Trump people, chose their resentments and look where it took them
I think if Andew Neil were honest he would admit that his impulse to give Trump the benefit of the doubt was driven in no small part by how annoying he finds the people who were ringing alarm bells about him.

Sanewashing to own the libs.
