The confirmation that 100ac of forestry adjacent to the Glen of the Downs has been bought by the NPWS is great news for Nature Restoration.

The opportunity to double the size of Irelands oldest nature reserve is a once in a limetime opportunity.

NEW REPORT: How powerful industry lobbies for agriculture, energy, mining + chemical sectors are pushing to weaken the EU's most important water legislation.

It means more pollution instead of more protection for our vital waterways 👎

They're not allowed to discharge again until the EPA are satisfied they'll be compliant with their licence, which, given their track record, won't be easy

We are so proud of our colleague and Head of Advocacy, Dr Elaine McGoff on all she has done, and continues to do, in clearly and unequivocally advocating for vital water quality safeguards and following the science. Clean water is a critical resource for us all.
I had the a welcome opportunity to move beyond the standard Punch & Judy media setup to properly look under the derogation hood, & explore why the Government measures are failing our waters & failing our farmers.

Ireland once again in the dock, for issues that @antaisce.bsky.social & SWAN have long highlighted as being legally problematic.

Amongst other serious issues, this judgement highlights that the arterial drainage act is not compliant with the WFD.

Time to give that archaic legislation the boot!
