Occurs to me that there’s a similarity between these politics grifters & fundamentalist apologetics: Their job isn’t REALLY to make an argument that holds up to reflection or scrutiny. It’s to deliver a performance of “erudite person who agrees with me” so you have permission not to think too hard.
If that phrase alone doesn't encapsulate 90% of the media's current challenge…

It's wild to me how much of the 1950s anticommunism in the US wasn't about resistance to an authoritarian and brutal system, but being upset that someone, somewhere, might've called you a bigot.
"Professors who agreed to mentor women in advanced STEM fields in the 1940s and 1950s were often accused of communism." Here's hoping the incoming administration doesn't start this up again.
'In 1956, the National Science Foundation even published an article with the title: “Women are NOT for Engineering.” 🧪

Actual pro tip: the best way to break into any creative profession is by helping to support and advance other creators. Your peers are not your adversaries. They are your support group.

When I worked in the hotel industry, the big chains were using ancient-ass property management software (Hilton's OnQ was from 2004 and Marriott's FOSSE is literally MS-DOS based with no mouse input) and I've been thinking about this more and more lately.

Because it worked fine.
