If you're an art lover in KC, I can't recommend enough the Nettie Zan show at Vulpes Bastille. You've never seen anything like it. They've made a visual vocabulary, like petroglyphs, to weave together large images that evoke the body before emotions, categories, words. Affordable work too.

I feel good about this: unpublishing my book (My Other Body: A Memoir of Love, Fat, Life, and Death, 2006) from KDP/Amazon and closing my account there. Anyone who wants a copy now needs to snag it from my single remaining box of copies. This was a good ride and I'm glad I did this project...

Re-reading my novel first draft was like being in an aircraft that comes in for a flawless textbook landing, after every single passenger violently pukes throughout the cabin in relentless turbulence, stalls, engine failures, & snack food poisonings. Its badness oddly cheers me. Low bar to clear.

This book made me say Oh no and Oh dear out loud. Like hilarious gossip about cherished acquaintances. Recommended as a brush for the sandy grit of the daily news in one's teeth. (If I could I'd smack John Updike in the head with my paperback for his "praise" quote on the cover.)

I made buttons.

I started making pronouns buttons for the Her Art/ Their Art show next Friday at ArtHouse … but I was tired, in grief and feeling about how there is so much more to each of us than gender.

So I started reimagining rainbows and flags and creating beautiful patterns in bright colors.

Ordered seeds; budget has been aggressively pruned. Dopamine hits to start arriving in a week or so. In other news, learned that parsley in a raised bed will handily survive a big long snow event. #kcagg
