Last night the UCP used their power as gov’t to limit debate on multiple bills to one hour.

They’ve done it > 80 times in six years.

I had a few choice words in response and in defence of Albertans who deserve a government that respects democracy.

Better is possible. Just not with UCP. #abpoli

If, as UCP caucus members have maintained, the recall process is being weaponized to protest gov policy, how would they characterize this petition in Lethbridge-East? #ableg

Danielle Smith just confirmed that her government is bringing back “special” classrooms. Alberta parents of children with disabilities may now have to fight to have their kids included in regular classrooms. Shameful regression in educational policy and practice!

I suspect that Inclusive Education is finished in AB. The premier is on CBC now talking about developing a new “special needs” policy, and blaming kids with complexities and language deficits as the problem in AB classrooms. No accountability for underfunding inclusive classrooms.

So this limited committee will “create a new policy for inclusive education” in AB? Current challenges in Inclusive Ed are nothing to do with lack of expertise in this area (Setting the Direction 2008, Action on Inclusion 2010). They are result of lack of gov commitment and funding.

Grateful to @naheednenshi.bsky.social and his NDP colleagues for their leadership in the Legislature yesterday and at today’s press conference. Alberta would be in such good hands with an NDP government. 👏🏼

“I am once again calling on the federal government to provide automatic enrolment to clients of provincial disability programs, including Albertans on AISH, so our government experiences no delays in clawing back $200 from vulnerable Albertans.”

Let’s all answer the call of our shared humanity. We are all equal!

How can you be Education Minister and not acknowledge the expertise that exists within schools/district offices? As Director of Inclusive Ed, I saw the hours teachers and admin spent making educated (based on research) decisions on where limited EA support could best be used to meet student need.
Today the province announced a new "Action team" to address classroom complexity.

When asked why not just listen to teachers though, Niccolaides had...

Redemption? Is he suggesting that addiction is a sin and people suffering from addictions need to atone? Is he setting himself up as a saviour? God help us, Canada. Please vote wisely!

Now that AB gov has reversed its decision, following public outrage, to no longer supply popsicles, juice & snacks to non-admitted patients, could we exert pressure on gov to not reduce monthly AISH benefits for those eligible for federal support, & to reinstate the Child and Youth Support Program?
