Further proof (as if we need it) that

1) we need to keep fighting for strong shared governance that can push back against/resist top-down policies, and

2) we need strong faculty unions more than ever. If your campus has one, join it! If you’re not yet unionized, start organizing
From the Oklahoma U student paper: the school is now saying it will automatically suspend faculty (with pay) in response to student complaints

On the accelerating crisis of vaccine preventable disease, the significance of the drop in vaccination rates, and how this relates to differing responses across the US. This week, an entire school district in Iowa closed to stop a measles outbreak, while hundreds are in quarantine in South Carolina.
The signal in the noise: pertussis, measles & the cost of anti-vaccine rhetoric — Jessica Kant
In the year 2000, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced that measles, a deadly and highly infectious disease which disproportionately harms children, was successfully declared eliminated. Tw...

This is probably the clearest indication yet that the administration understands what they’re doing in the Caribbean is illegal.

They’re now threatening the ICC with sanctions if they investigate Trump and his team.

DOJ has sued Maine, Oregon, California, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Washington, Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Vermont for access to its most sensitive voter data.

My firm has moved to intervene in 10 of those cases. We are working on the last 4.

It is not! A “scrivener’s error” is for things like fixing typos or very minor non-material errors, not retroactively adding a deportation order that doesn’t current exist!
Is "correcting" a previous order like this a real thing?

Remarkable how brutal the ruling against Trump on Abrego Garcia truly is: It details flagrant and malicious abuses of power all throughout. Trump and Stephen Miller were testing their ability to spread lawless state terror. But the court held the line. 1/

1/ MUST READ: @dfriedman.bsky.social asked the Pentagon about a Goodreads page linked to the email of a top official that featured pornographic books. Then, MAGA influencer—and newly minted member of DOD press corps—Jack Posobiec threatened to smear him.

Quite the coincidence!

I asked the Pentagon about Pete Hegseth's mentor. Then the threats started.
