I once had a professor ask “Why is there a Business section in the newspaper but not a Labor section?” My classmates and I probably rolled our eyes, but damned if I haven’t remembered that question every few days for 30 years now.
The best way to understand the NYT is as a chronicle of power, which may explain why there are ** checks notes ** seven reporters on this single story about beefing up executive security

I often think about a workshop in which we were talking about top-down requirements to teach a specific curriculum and prepare students to score well on tests. A teacher looked at me sadly and said, "I'm becoming the kind of teacher I don't respect."
