I can't get Carolina Barbecue Sauce in any store here- so since I have to order it online anyway- anyone have any suggestions? Preferably shelf stable, I'd like to order a bunch at once. #BBQ #cooking #carolinabbq

For 3 months in the early 2000's it was my job to call David Lynch every Friday to get the LA weather report for Good Morning Emerson. I believe I was chosen for the job because I barely knew who he was and everyone else in the room was a BFA Film major who was scared of him.

No matter what life brings, I can rest easy knowing I have the one thing Elon Musk wishes he had but can't buy; a group of 15+ people who get together every week, fueled by love and community to play video games together while we laugh and have fun.

Got some doggie tacos. They were a big hit but she also is on so much prednisone she will basically eat anything.

My vet, who I love, has run out of ideas and is sending us to a specialist. I hate going to new vets, it is so stressful. I appreciate that mine knows he can't help anymore and is not afraid to admit it. I am probably about to spend a bunch of money and not get any more answers.

Reminder; New Years is an arbitrary day and we are just a rock in space. If you have had a terrible last 2 days, there is still hope for 2025.

It’s scary to think that if anything happens to Elon Musk, JD Vance would become president.

It's wild getting a dog spayed at a regular vet after years of shelter dogs and fosters who were spayed or neutered then literally thrown at me with a "good luck," and rarely a cone. In the non shelter world they treat this like the serious abdominal surgery it is. 10x the price but worth it.

My Christmas wish is for better luck next year. Also less vet bills. I'm 8k in and counting. Maybe I shouldn't count? Might make it easier 😭

The vet tech tells me that Chromie is her favorite patient because she gets so many blood tests that she is "essentially trained to get a blood draw at this point." Not sure this is the first trick I would have chosen to train a new dog, but I guess it's something?

A little preview of this year's holiday card. I usually photograph the dogs in ridiculous outfits, but Chromie is not quite trained enough yet to get a good pose. I'm still pretty pleased with my ridiculous photoshop job.

I thought I splurged on a delish holiday treat but it was so bad I just had to check the box to make sure it wasn't made of carob, which I have not eaten since like 1994. For the record no carob here, just bad.

@thesunflowerqueen.bsky.social I searched Ilona Maher on here and only found you, her biggest fan. Can we team up to get her on here? I am preparing to loose TikTok and am only sad about loosing her posts.

I grew up very close to the Seaquarium. One day when I was 10 my Mom and I were standing at the window looking at Lolita and these dolphins and we just looked at each other and said "well this is depressing" and never went back. Horrible to think that they suffered another 25 years.
Loke has passed away at Shedd Aquarium. She and her calf Elelo (also deceased) were rescued from the Miami Seaquarium after spending years in the inhumanely tiny back pools.

Like used to live with Lolita/Tokitae (also deceased). She was ~ 41.

AI is really great... in certain contexts. Maybe we need to reel things in a bit? For example AI in more advanced search tools to help lawyers do their jobs ✅️, AI solving crimes and charging people with murder ❌️. We are still far away from that 2nd one but now might be the time to legislate it.
Spielberg made a movie about this and, as I recall, things didn’t work out so well…

Luckily you don't need to give WotC money to play a TTRPG. Musk is such an asshole.

I said dinner would be ready at 4. Turkey came out at 330, rested, veggies roasted, potatoes finished and we sat down to eat at 4:04. Everyone was impressed, so I will tell you my secret; a good meat thermometer and the kind of generational trauma that makes you chronically on time.

A Thanksgiving tradition- half a hen and pumpkin "pie" for each chihuahua. I'll spare you the graphic images of them ripping apart the hen.

I feel... so prepared for tomorrow. I even remembered to take the chihuahua turkey (a Cornish game hen) out of the freezer to thaw before I went to bed. #thanksgivingwin

Confusingly this was the first album I ever bought with my own money. I was an odd child.

I am so grateful this time of year to have family on both sides all the way up to my grandparents who have spent their lives fighting for progressive causes. No one is perfect but I never have had combative political holiday. The greatest generation had at least 4 pro-union environmental activists.

Pet insurance is great until your new dog gets one of the most expensive things wrong with her while still in the waiting period- then you get to listen to people ask why you don't have insurance constantly. Believe me my saving wishes she held onto those platelets until it was covered.
November 25, 2024 at 9:25 PM
Within 3 months of owning her my newest dog yeeted all her platelets from her blood and had to get a transfusion and spend nights in the doggie ICU. Now every time she acts weird at all for the rest of her life I have to get her a blood test, because there is no way to know what caused it.

Chromie has clear favorites, and @somohapian.com is one of them. Not just because he keeps her feet warm, but that does have a lot to do with it.
