Today, a devastating report from the @rcn.org.uk, based on the testimony of over 5000 NHS nurses, has rightly catapulted the national shame that is NHS 'corridor care' into the headlines once more. (1/15)

There is a lot wrong with this country after years of Tory?LibDem austerity … I don’t think more austerity is in anyone’s interest. (Unless you’re super rich).
The UK has a lower number of qualified Doctors & Nurses than most peer nations
The NHS is becoming less productive & is using a greater number of less qualified & skilled staff
Additionally there is a higher attrition rate & failure to retain experience, knowledge & skills

The only reason the private sector has any spare capacity (it is never cost effective to run at spare capacity) is because they have been promised NHS contracts.

Why not fix NHS pay and bring that capacity back in house?

Better for patients. Better for NHS staff. Better for the tax payer.

The private sector aren't 'helping out' the NHS

They're profiting of it's crisis, whilst leaching valuable resources away from the NHS.

Nursing is an incredible and rewarding career. The government must support recruitment to ensure nursing shortages do not continue.

Our calls for a loan forgiveness scheme for nursing graduates who commit to working in public services is gaining more support each day. Read more ⬇️

In the week that MPs vote on assisted dying, please - please - can we all agree & act on the fact that the time to end the woeful underfunding of NHS palliative care is now?

If we truly cared about dying people, we wouldn’t neglect their final days.

Over to you, @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social

MUST scores in the palliative care context. Do they tell us anything we don’t already know and what is the appropriate response? Will repeated weights cause more anxiety for the pt & family?
I’d love to hear some views please 😃
