It does make you feel uneasy when you know the reason for display isn't anything to do with actual pride or football. It's an ignorant display of so-called "Englishness"

I have read and reread that book quite a few times. First time in high school. Such a good story and many twists and turns. Some good references to historic traditions too.

There are a couple of houses in my area that have flown the St George flag for many years on actual flagpoles. They have large front gardens and driveways. That is their right on their own land. When Russia invaded Ukraine, one of them added the Ukrainian flag.
