Quote of the moment: "Now is the winter of our discontent." Making pots of soup, mixing words into poetry, and trying to not be too saucy.
Summer isn't over yet... for adults. Long live very late nights reading, reading, reading and the mornings with tall iced glasses of wake-me-up. Do you find your #reading routine morph with the seasons?

Doing the query letter dance—checking Instagram, brewing another pot of tea, checking email, petting the tummy fluff on my cat, looking at my eyebrows in the mirror, watching the rain pummel the driveway, daydreaming about what I'll make for lunch... Can you relate?

I'm thinking a lot these days about "reader resilience" (IE the reader hits a snag in a book that like a burr in a boot just keeps rubbing the reader wrongly). Have you ever experienced this? What keeps you going?

Nov. 24, Gratitudes
- Seeing "Wicked" with friends, especially the one who promptly fell asleep & another who, 2 minutes in, is asking himself, "Why am I here?" The answer: love.
- Waking up early to shop for firm collard greens after a friend advised it last night. Early bird gets the good greens.

- The sweet, sweet finish line of said recording session with a promise of enchiladas awaiting us.

My book about anxiety came out 8 years ago today and why yes, that was a week after the 2016 election and I felt like a jerk promoting it, so I didn't very much, but I love this little weirdo, so here I go. www.harpercollins.com/products/hi-...

In today's issue of #cooking up the odds and ends in the pantry, I made Blue Masa Pancakes. They were pretty and I loved the top notes of corn, especially with salted butter and blueberries tumbled in before griddling them.

Solid reminder, Charles.
I made some curry turkey meatloaf for a clients meal prep today. And I just want to remind you that if you are making anything with ground meat—fry a piece to taste it for seasoning adjustments, even if it’s a tried and true recipe.👌🏾 #cooking #tips #personalchef

I never get over how small these numbers are. Look how easy it is to help out your favorite authors! (And your local bookstores!)
When I was a buyer at a large indie, my rule of thumb was:

1 preorder: huh, let me take a closer look at this one
2 preorders: we need to stock this book
3 preorders: we should order enough to face this out
4+ preorders: this should be on front-of-store display
More detail: When booksellers get pre-orders, it's a quantitative and qualitative signal that there is like *something here* about a book. The avalanche of new books out there is hard to communicate if you're not in the industry, and pre-orders are one of vanishingly few signals. It is a real thing!

It's peak baked feta pasta season. This follows soup last night, made from leftovers. AKA starting to clear the fridge in T-Day prep. When my brain goes on auto-pilot, I'm grateful for my pantry to pitch in & nudge the fridge into action too. This is Tuesday night #cooking. What did you cook today?

November is one for the books. It's a funny phrase, right? I would have written this story differently... Anyways, an atmospheric river is headed our way but hopefully not a bomb cyclone. I'm convinced a meterologist who moonlights as a poet came up with these terms. Imagine them in a haiku!

Nov. 14 Gratitudes:

- Lunch at Lulu with an old boss in her third life chapter
- Solano Ave. flocked in fall tree colors

- Take Me Home by Phil Collins

Hello, first post. After writing a second abecedarian in a week as catharsis, I find it filled with alarms going off. What are you writing right now? I may make this a place for gratitude lists. You've been warned.
