Unfortunately it seems we have to do the CMOH job- total lapse in PH practice. Why take the job if you’re going to let the (anti science/anti vax) UCP dictate the message. Here’s my basic PSA

Chief Medical Officer - one of the best ways to earn a three-figure salary for occasionally telling people they shouldn't get sick. Somehow (they'll figure it out).

The way that the UCP muzzles the CMOH has rendered the role useless in preventing the spread of measles, the flu and covid.

Can’t say this side of the Rockies is any better. Yes there’s the occasional news article but noticeable official silence. And I’m paying attention.

If I were paid to do this job, I'd be in the media and on social media every day.
I'd say:
1)get vaccinated for covid and the flu.
2) wear a respirator (N95) mask in crowded indoor spaces like public transit.
3) keep your holiday get-togethers safe by keeping things well ventilated and filtered.

Not saying we had all the answers. I was repeatedly told by MDs in early pandemic that I needed to stay in my lane and to stop epistemic trespassing.

And to hear MD luminaries repeatedly state to the media ‘no good evidence respirators protect’ when we had decades of specific real world research.

Since medical malpractice is what I want to do (in part motivated by these experiences), I will say that the system is very stacked against patient plaintiffs. The system also tends to prefer to assign blame to individual professionals for mistakes rather than consider systemic issues.
