"Open Source is a book that adds to the much needed #Neurotechnology #ScienceFiction. As an engineer and PhD student in #neuroscience myself, I loved the book because it raises real societal & ethical questions."

A couple of weeks ago I was chatting w/ a friend who works in cybersecurity. She knows I write scifi horror about hackable brain implants, & told me I was doing God's work by going to those dark places w/ my plot. "Terrify them," she told me.

Mission accepted.

Second cup of coffee. Real world is fading... I'm in a basement place in my mind, where the story takes over. Where I don't care about writing better than others or better than AI. Me against myself, hands on the keyboard. Let's go.

Neuralink, Elon Musk, and the Race to Put Chips In Our Brains

Though brain chips are all over TV and the news now with Neuralink, scientists like those at Caltech have been working on the technology for decades. And some question Musk’s approach.

Turning 46 next week! Feeling my age, though I'm also looking forward to being a crazy old writer lady with scifi ideas at the cutting edge of reality, all while knitting a quilt. (Just kidding... I don't knit.)

May the Fourth be with you. And may your coffee be strong. Furthermore, may your brain implant be secure. Gotta watch out for those neurohackers.

In a world where targeted advertising, algorithms, and AI dictate so much of our digital consumption, how often do we actually choose for ourselves? Does free will still exist, and for how long?

This week I finished editing a 135k-word psychological horror manuscript, met with the author to discuss revisions, and had some solid writing ideas for my own scifi WIP. A good week!

None of the cyberpunk novels in the world could have ever predicted the corporate takeover of America could be so stupid.

One day the president's favourite billionaire just walked into one agency at a time with a bunch of private security, said 'I run this now' and everyone just kinda shrugged.

Just discovered Octavia E. Butler. Parable of the Sower is incredibly dark but oddly uplifting at the same time. A testament to the human spirit in the face of dystopia. Relevant for our times.
