Don’t change your subject headings. There is no library jail. Keep using the real names not these fake ones.

Obeying in advance is worse than those doing the change because when you obey with soenthing that is clearly wrong you are putting false information into official “fact” places.
Librarians doing anticipatory obedience 😡 🤢 💔

It was great hearing @eveewing.bsky.social talk about the history and research that went into writing this book. I can't wait to start reading it. #OriginalSins #Education #Schooling #AmericanHistory #Racism #BookSky

Not only do I get to hear @eveewing.bsky.social tonight, but I get to check out this new-to-me museum. #AmericanWritersMuseum #OriginalSins

I have a road trip planned w/ my parents & brother who has Down Syndrome next month & part of the route takes us through OK, TX, NM, & AZ. I told my parents that they should pack their passports, but I'm wondering if we should just cancel the whole trip.

The venn diagram of the losers crying about how Beyonce bought the AOTY award and the losers celebrating getting rid of DEI initiatives is a circle.

Look, I'm not the spelling police (bc ACAB, am I right?), but there is a difference between sewn and sown and brooch and broach. It's bothering me just enough that it took me out of the story twice. If there are any more spelling errors, I may have to DNF this book. #booksky

But I thought they loved him because he says what he means and means what he says.
cannot be said enough that for a decade a critical number of americans have simply refused to accept that he means what he says
I hold a lot of disdain for the people who didn’t see this coming given P2025 but it does seem like the actual support for these goals is nonexistent, everyone who voted for him did so under the incredibly stupid assumption that he wouldn’t do this

Hot take based on what I've been seeing online: I DO NOT want Kendrick Lamar to bring Taylor Swift out as a guest during the Super Bowl. We don't need a blonde, white woman pulling focus away from two immensely talented Black performers while they are on one of the world's largest stages.

I'm going to an author event next week, so I stopped by the bookstore hosting the event to buy a copy of the book. Aside from the display in the window, there were none on the floor & the employee had to search through boxes in their backroom to find copies. This is kind of strange, no?

I restarted my work computer an hour ago to update a program I needed and now, I just got a popup message saying that my computer is going to restart whether I want it to or not. How very Monday of it all.

It's been several days since I finished this book and I'm still thinking about it and that's because while I was reading it, I was suddenly struck with a comparison to Dr. Gholdy Muhammad's Cultivating Genius.
You need to read this book. That is all. #booksky

Educators:

We have to steel ourselves against the urge to consume everything, everywhere, all at once. The next four years are going to be long and hard; some of us will not make it.

Protect your peace.
Protect the children.

Dang, it's -6 right now, which means I have to take out my down coat, but it's going to go up to 25+ the rest of this week. I don't want to pay to dry clean a coat I only end up wearing once, though I guess February is only a week away.

I'm getting back into physical media, namely CD's & DVD's. Sadly, they're getting harder to find. I did visit Rolling Stone(s?)in Norridge last week & I heard about Reckless Records downtown. Are there any other recommendations in Chicago or nearby?

My 1st post here was going to be a complaint about one particular internet provider & the runaround they've been giving me since Sat, but since I gave them until Wed to get their act together, I'm just going to say that I'm glad that the 1st hash tag I encountered here is #booksky.

My introduction to #booksky I guess?

📚 Reading is political
🎧 Audiobooks count as reading
📖 Reading is not a competition
🤔 Reading critically & reading for fun are not mutually exclusive
👉 If you support problematic authors, you deserve to be called out on it
🚫 Toxic positivity can eff off

Claiming audiobooks "don't count" is ableist and stupid. Consume your content in the fashion most enjoyable and convenient. #booksky
