"Things are bad" =/= "all is lost"
Reposted by Anna Carey
Today’s concept of “forgiveness” is pushed on survivors of SA, DV, or other abuse as the only way to “move on” and heal from their trauma. This is nothing but patriarchal garbage. You can survive and thrive without “forgiving” those who have caused you trauma.

Another case, even.

My understanding is that if you're training to relax the muscles and not just tighten them it's probably evidence based for your circumstances?

I have only had a very bare bones exposure to pelvic floor PT and even that was enough for me to be told "too many people are doing too many kegals and it means their pelvic floor can't relax anymore and that's also bad."

The desire for the softness that natural fibers only achieve after long wear meets the desire to buy new clothes every week and here we are in disposable clothing hell!

It's the spandex in everything. Stretchy fabrics (that are expected to be worn in a way that utilizes the stretch) wear out much more quickly because the fibers break. Even fabrics from all-natural materials these days often use shorter fibers for softness that detract from durability.

I realize I'm being an asshole here but the words you used literally did not mean the thing you wanted to say and I think that matters when you're talking with other people.

The linguistic formulation "only with x" implies that you think x does not occur in the original state. It means the same as "now with added x!"

So if that was your point you made it poorly.

It's difficult even to reuse scrap material from it! Can't salvage one pair of jeans to patch several others because they're all stretch knit and fully worn to see-through by the time a 7yo can outgrow them (which is only about six months on average!).

Things lasted long enough to hand down and were made with enough seam allowance for mending and resizing, too. Today's clothes for kids at all but the highest price points are made to be disposable.

The November straggler bumblebees make me so sad. I know this gal's one of the solitary types and hasn't like lost her hive, but I feel like she has to have noticed the others have all gone. It must feel like the end of all things. Which I guess for her it is.

It can hardly be otherwise, right??

So a lot of people don't actually have a lot of meaningful alternatives and when choosing between using a bad platform to reduce waste and just...wasting shit, some people consider the bad platform the less evil option. It's extremely weird to scold a stranger for that.

The pop-punk of the early 00s was really bad for that too.

I think it's pretty clearly a "this person is unwell and we hope she gets better" thing, not a "somebody attacked her for real" thing.

Analogizing this with consensual porn is a stretch, my guy.

Equating this with consensual porn is a stretch my guy.

This fall I have prepared for a riotous early spring garden and by god I'm gonna be there to see it.
November 19, 2025 at 4:08 PM
At this time last year I was STRUGGLING to complete any winter preparation at all because of the despair I felt that we might not be here by spring. That was an incorrect belief. We were not cooked then and we're not cooked now.

I explicitly want those courses taught in small groups by people with very high levels of knowledge in their field and I want those instructors paid a family-supporting living wage directly from my taxes.
