Important new rights for workers announced today.

Amendments to the Employment Rights Bill will include:
- Rights to guaranteed hours contracts for agency workers
- Regulation of umbrella companies
- Right for an independent union to seek recognition where employer recognised a non-independent one

Employers are not using zero hours contracts for short term cover. Rather, most zero-hours workers are being parked on them for months, and sometimes years, at a time.
