Part-time mature student at St Andrews University.
Ex-civil servant, university admin, instrument repairer. Travelling, nature, music, photography, yoga, walking and finding ways to cook apples. And wine - lots of wine. 🎺🍏🍎🍷
I remember feeling the same as you when I decided to leave the Civil Service after 16 yrs to become a full-time mum. My motto is it’s better to do 1 job well, than 2 jobs adequately and I don’t regret my decision.
In the face of populist disinformation, we need Bears.
So trust your instincts 😊.

It’s a step in the right direction to securing the trade deal we need, let’s hope something comes of it. But yeah, the chainsaw thing undermines the achievement. We don’t need daft gimmicks, we do need to keep momentum going on the trade deal.

This appears to be the culprit (or at least those spreading it about online). The stamp is at bottom left hand side. Hands off artists’ work. It should be that simple 😡.

Welcome back to Blighty Bear. Living in my Daily Wail-free bubble of sanity like I do, I’ve been blissfully unaware of this latest wave of pearl clutching, but not in the least bit surprised.
My question would be why wait till 2028.

Oooh! This is a good #RecipeOfTheDay, thanks for sharing.
Is it okay if we rename it the Naughty Snowball?

I imagine Johnson will ensure that his children’s upbringing and education will make that level of self awareness completely out of the question.
December 2, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Hard to forget Johnson’s shambolic oven-ready Brexit built on lies, stupid slogans and false promises 😡.
If only the Truth Bus was real - you could take it on a UK tour, making a few stop offs at the few remaining Tory constituencies 😉.

I don’t remember Bernard Manning ever “going after” florid, overweight, gobby, middle-aged white blokes back in the day. So maybe not everyone then 🤔.

My home town - we always look for the outlet for the medieval toilet in the castle wall when we do that walk and you can sometimes see kingfishers. This brightened my day, thank you ☺️.

I bet the Daily Wail haven’t headlined this little titbit.

I agree! The time for an external enquiry into Reform’s role in Russian politics interference is right now, following the conviction of Nathan Gill. Starmer’s half-assed suggestion that Farage carries out an investigation on himself is eyebrow-raisingly laughable.

I get where you’re coming from. Husband mainly works from home, so his fashion faux-pas was a well kept secret until now...
November 20, 2025 at 11:43 AM
May I suggest the latest innovation in office-wear - the heated gilet. My husband says it’s the best present I’ve ever given him. 😆

His “one person’s word against another” and “I can’t remember back to the 70s & 80s” arguments are pathetically weak when it’s his word against at least 12 credible sources who remember specific events, names of victims etc.
It’s in the country’s interest to keep pressure on him over this.

There are a few strong contenders for most loathed British prime minister, but everything else Owen says is pretty spot on.

The arrogance of Thames Water is stunning, especially when you consider they’ve been allowed to be utterly incompetent for far too long.
Almost as stunning as the fact our largest water company is in the hands of global hedge fund managers.
Respect to Charlie Maynard for trying.

A very messy problem very clearly argued Bear. We haven’t watched BBC news or tuned into Jeremy Vine for years now and you’ve managed to explain the nuances of why we’ve had enough of this general ‘reality shift’ towards normalised prejudice.

Thanks for sharing Alison Thomas’s story about these talented and inspirational women artists. An excellent depiction of the WW1 war effort - behind the scenes.

Wouldn’t it be refreshing if the British media made an effort to report facts instead of emotive and polarising mush? The National isn’t the worst by any stretch.
I doubt very much whether the passing of this Scot Parl vote will get the coverage it deserves in England.
September 4, 2025 at 9:56 AM
Scot Parl results - 5 Lib Dem MSPs ABSTAINED, they didn’t vote against. While that doesn’t reflect Ed Davey’s support for Palestine, it’s not the same degree of inhumanity shown by the 23 Tory specimens that voted against.
Good to see the vote was passed.

The “HOTTEST Country in the World” is likely to become even hotter while that megalomaniac and his henchmen continue to deny climate change.

Oh the irony Mr Bear, the lack of self-awareness in this article is astounding.
But don’t forget when the British decide to settle overseas they prefer to be known as expats. It’s amazing what a difference wealth can make, isn’t it? 💰 💰 💰
