One of the greatest achievements in transit that no one talks about is the extent to which MTA subway mosaics have been installed. Simply going through the list of installations, it's become apparent to me that the vast majority were created during my lifetime

I have to say, lighting makes a real difference in terms of reducing a sketch factor at stations. These light towers are less than ideal so hopefully BART is avale to fund permanent fixtures in and around station lands

The real question should be over custom fittings like patterned steel panels. Those are hard to source, difficult to manufacture, and are a pain in the ass to install:
