Gruentzig died in 1985. I believe the centennial you mention is that of the American Heart Association. Gruentzig did the 1st coronary angioplasty (PTCA) in 1977, but it was radiologist Charles Dotter who came up with the concept & did the 1st peripheral angioplasty in 1964; he also coined the term.
