“Additionally, health professionals are ideally placed to play a key role in supporting Autistic adults through Autistic burnout,

particularly as supportive environments appear to facilitate improved energy levels while experiencing burnout (Higgins, et al., 2021).”
Being in Autistic burnout impaired diabetes self-management, and its effects on self-management varied between participants:

“Being on the Autistic spectrum, there’s a lot more grievous things for me to think about, than there is diabetes, to be honest.”

We were hoping that this letter to @bsky.app could first be shared by a Gazan, but we were too worried that doing so would get their account deleted so we are sharing first.

You can sign on to the letter about the unfair treatment of Gazans on Bluesky here:

i was logged off, then heard about this.

it asks @moderation.bsky.app to make very basic changes that would allow palestinians—stuck in the middle of a genocide paying $500 for flour—to fundraise to feed their families without constantly having accounts shut down.

check it out. sign. i did.

Excellent neurodiversity article!

Key points:

- Autism may be a disability but is NOT a flaw

- Disabled people can have rich, meaningful lives and are in no way lesser

- Needs can be unique to the individual

- “Different” is a good thing

- Don’t shame those who can’t work
Just been reminded of this excellent Scientific American mythbuster about neurodiversity.

'"When we talk about “not pathologizing autism,” we don’t mean “pretending autistic people don’t have impairments.” But we also don’t assume that neurological and behavioral differences are always problems.'
Clearing Up Some Misconceptions about Neurodiversity
Just because you value neurological differences doesn’t mean you’re denying the reality of disabilities

I found this such a telling line from Kim Leadbeater in her @politicshome.bsky.social interview on assisted dying. I imagine there’s some minorities who won’t be reassured by the idea they must just “put faith” in the health and legal system.
