1. Bluesky doesn’t downrank links
2. You can choose your own algorithm from among thousands
3. The whole app is open source

This keeps it a free and open platform by design, leading to better click-throughs and traffic to your site.

We 💙 the open web.

One final reminder: #defcon’s online reg price goes from Regular ($560) to Late ($580) at 8:59pm EST on July 18. You still have some time to avoid the increase.

Shop.defcon.org

Also, online reg closes 8/1. After that, #linecon and cash at the door only.

#defcon33 is just weeks away.

Let's GO.

If you're looking curious about electric cars, there are many, many more options on the market from mainstream automakers and, get this, many of them have more advanced technology than what Tesla has because Tesla spent a solid 8 years ignoring the importance of 800V battery architectures.

Citizens of foreign countries seem to have a much better grasp on how exactly to wield economic pressure via boycotts than we do here in the US and that sure is something.

OK, gonna throw this spicy bomb out there.

If you're fortunate enough to have disposable income, then right now it is your duty to use that income wisely. You have agency over how you spend it and you should own how you spend it.

Your decisions do, in fact, affect stock prices of big corporations.

We did figure out that TikTok does still seem to work through Tor. However, that’s not ideal for most people and still leaves creators stranded without a platform. This is a huge barrier for many who relied on TikTok for their reach and livelihood. #TikTokBan #Tor #Cybersecurity #infosec

For now, I’m focusing on Red Note, aka Xiaohongshu. In just one week, I’ve gained over 3,000 followers there—faster growth than I’ve ever seen on any Meta app. I have zero intention of returning to Meta platforms. I’ll at most crosspost to Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. #SocialMedia #TikTokBan

If you haven’t listened to this interview with Pete Buttigieg about planning for new train lines in the USA, it’s worth a listen! I was delighted that he affirmed my grand theory for why transit construction costs are so high in the US!!
My episode with Secretary Pete is now up on the usual video sharing platform. So much good stuff in here, and I hope to get him back on in the future!
