- He/Him
Alongside the slight cut-off at the bottom of the frame [heightens the danger, not being able to see the entrance/exit], the upward tilt to the dutch-angle shot [creates a sense of unease], lacking a direct view of the hole [potentially deadly mystery]? I'd say that's not a bad shot at all!

Look at how the deep blacks of the vent in the original composition really drive home orifice-like nature of the hole in the wall, reframing the puzzle as the player reuniting this red descending staircase-as-unfurled tongue with the gaping maw, the boxes holding the whole thing together. Surgery!

On the one hand, I died several times to the original, the set design & perspective coupled together make eyeballing the approach difficult. Fixed, right?

Until you look at it. New shot looks like something from another game - Metal Gear Solid. Not Resident Evil. And the puzzle is now an annoyance

Beyond the pale, especially following Shin Godzilla, which demonstrates at length how even something as machine-like as the bureaucracy is, at the end of the day, composed of individuals. Learning who is a face saver vs. achiever is akin to clearing out & reforming military, from peacetime to war

What makes that 'not clocking it' all the worse is how incredibly not-subtly it goes about it. I mean, Godzilla literally melts into the 'Rising Sun' which the ex-military all salute, and that's ignoring the whole "Was all the military/civic leaders faults, I was just following orders" ickiness...

Oh, I adored every single frame - each more ecstatic than the last - of Angel’s Egg, but I’m a slow cinema guy. Movie feels like a bomb going off in every sense, especially in terms of influence, but it’s a challenging piece, very Lynchian. Audience guy going from zero to cannonball stood no chance

Same for my visit on the 12th; screening ended with a very loud & irate “I thought you told me this was going to be *anime*!” complaint aimed at their offending friend. 10/10 review far as I’m concerned.
