I live in the shadow of Mt. St. Helens where I write about cameras and other tech, create YouTube videos, and spend a lot of time out in nature photographing wildlife and the places they live.

Scuppers wishes he had opposable thumbs so he too could play cards on a rainy November afternoon.

Very wet morning here! The seasonal ponds have returned to the marsh. #wawx

Moved a big tree out of the garden and into the field today. Was a really difficult extraction thanks to the weirdly shaped toot ball, and I'm afraid I mangled a big root. Hope it survives, but I'm afraid it will require daily water from May-September to make it through the summer next year.

Around 800 people submitted comments supporting type NP stream protections, nearly twice that of comments opposed to type NP stream protections!

Depicted here is a type NP stream, though it lies hidden beneath the vegetation of a legacy forest. The proposed rules would protect places like this.

There are patches here and there where it's clear, but it's all shifting around and closing in, unfortunately.

I want to go look for northern lights again, but have become trapped and cannot move. 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately overcast, but there is some hint that there is an aurora behind all the murk! #wawx

Air quality has been rather poor today - way too much pile burning going on as a result of rampant cleacutting. 😡😷

Inflicting such lung-damaging, carbon-emitting fumes upon the region shouldn't be legal.

Got blocked by the timber propaganda org "Washington's Working Forests" after calling them out one too many times on their BS. 😆

Beautiful afternoon to be out in the forest. I was surprised that in the deep woods the #FallColors have actually improved in the past week! #wawx

These giant ride-on leaf blowers are the absolute worst, and it's insane that Washington State Parks utilizes leaf blowers of all descriptions so extensively.

They are hideously loud, wasteful, and unnecessary. They have no place in our parks and other #PublicLands. #Parkchat
