I hate fireworks at New Years. It's so hard on wildlife during the lean winter months. It also freaks out pets.
Not as bad as the 4th, but fireworks remain a menace, and they should be constrained to professional displays.

What was it with people in the 20th century demolishing amazing library buildings? Seattle library, Reno library, Cincinnati library....
Opened in May 1904, the Carnegie Library in Reno, NV closed on Dec 31, 1929. The library had outgrown its home. The stacks were moved to the Nevada State Building. The Carnegie Library building was demolished in 1931. t.co/zStMU7RQZs

Planted some more western hemlock seedlings in the rootballs of fallen trees and in decaying logs, as well as some salal, hemlock, and Doug fir in the ground to further bulk up the forest ecosystem on this side of the field.
