Photographer, writer, environmentalist, geek

I live in the shadow of Mt. St. Helens where I write about cameras and other tech, create YouTube videos, and spend a lot of time out in nature photographing wildlife and the places they live.
Pinned
I had this photo pinned to the top of my Twitter feed for four years because whenever I look at it I remember happier times. Those memories grow more precious to me with every passing day.
Reflections of clouds this afternoon. #wawx

The @wadnr.bsky.social is staffed by folks who have either been brainwashed by the education of corrupt institutions such as UW, or are actively corrupt themselves.

The agency is the largest single beneficiary of the timber sales it conducts, leading to an inherent bias by itself.

Yet more evidence that catastrophic fires are driven by wind and drought (heat is also a major factor in summer). The "fuels reduction" which is so popular in Western states does nothing to address these factors, and in fact exacerbates them.

Infuriating newsletter from @gluesenkampperez.house.gov this morning - she called sea lions in the Columbia river "invasive", when in fact they are a native species, and bragged about securing millions of our tax dollars to murder them. 🤬

Kind of a grim #sunset this evening. We deserve some snow to go with this bitterly cold weather!

We need more people in politics who don't have a financial stake in the stock market.
My wife and I have zero in stocks, zero in 401k, and live paycheck to paycheck. The fact that the stock market is over 50k means nothing to average families. It does not help us pay for ever increasing grocery bills. This is normal. Support my run TODAY at www.BH4C.win and have an ally in the House.

Do we really need data centers at all? Most of the services they facilitate are luxuries and conveniences, not necessities; social media, online shopping, generative AI, Cryptocurrency.

We don't actually need these things (in fact, we'd be better off without them), and we don't need data centers.

Climate commitment funds should not be used to plug holes in the state budget. Those funds should be used for projects such as land conservation, or putting solar panels on roofs and over parking lots. #waleg @governorferguson.bsky.social

I really don't think large team sports belong like hockey, basketball, etc. belong in the #Olympics.

The Olympic games, in my view, are all about the individual athletes, or small teams (figure skating, bobsled, triathlon, etc.).

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

3 week update: my Italian Stone Pine bonsai is thriving!

Despite repotting and some radical and some radical angling/bending of the trunk and branches, it has put on a ton of new growth. I'd estimate around 1/2 an inch!

We don't need new cities, we need to rebuild existing communities to be walkable, liveable, and affordable. No construction should be permitted outside of existing built space.
The Times once again gets so close, but so far. Building new cities on agricultural land misses the basic problem:

How are workers supposed to get from a new city to their jobs? None of these plans include any transit! We tried this in the 70s and it's how we got LA's smoggy suburban hell!
Maybe America Needs Some New Cities
