I live in the shadow of Mt. St. Helens where I write about cameras and other tech, create YouTube videos, and spend a lot of time out in nature photographing wildlife and the places they live.

I had this photo pinned to the top of my Twitter feed for four years because whenever I look at it I remember happier times. Those memories grow more precious to me with every passing day.

A proposed project to build a golf course in Westport Light State Park would cause catastrophic and permanent damage to the ecosystems there.

Please sign this petition and consider writing to Washington State Parks directly.

This is horrible. It is infuriating how little respect many people in Washington State have for trees, particularly folks in management positions. 🤬

For those in the back: The Abundance agenda's push for "permitting reform" adopts & aligns with the fossil fuel industry's playbook under the false premise that if we let capital build everything anywhere all at once that it'll work out for people & place. It won't.

Sprawl is not a solution to the housing crisis, and the loss of fields & forests is as dire an issue as the housing crisis.

Both issues must be confronted in tandem, by making it less difficult & expensive to build apartments in existing community centers, while also banning further sprawl.

$7.50 from Nikon to ship two tiny screws to me to replace the ones which fell out of my 70-200mm lens. 🙄

Also, Nikon support wouldn't tell me which screws I needed to order, so I eventually asked KEH and they researched it and got back to me which exactly the part I needed to order from Nikon.

So the sole human destiny is to keep on killing off nature until the biosphere collapses, and us with it?

Sorry, but I believe in another future, in which *both* nature and people thrive.

It IS possible.
You can't prioritize both. That's what 200,000 years of human species tells us. We are an apex predator and an invasive species. Now we may decry the effect of that on other species but...

I don't quite understand the mentality of people who reply to a post on social media in an antagonistic manner, and then get upset and block you when you refute them with a calm, reasonable response.

I'm currently testing out the DJI Osmo Action 6 for an upcoming review, and I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with its performance capturing still images!

It has a 1-inch sensor, and is the first action camera to feature a variable aperture. #LandscapePhotography

The unwarranted and malicious attack on Rep. Chuy García by @gluesenkampperez.house.gov delayed the vote to release the #EpsteinFiles.

The timing of this action by Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is too glaring to be easily written-off as mere coincidence.

MGP isn't just an idiot who walks roughshod over her constituents, she's also liability to her own party who works with Republican to attack her own colleagues on spurious grounds, and is a filthy liar who took money from the oil and timber industries.

The way the Sami people are treated in Northern Europe is a big part of why many of my ancestors ended up in the U.S., going so far as to erase evidence of their origin so as to escape persecution.

It is disgusting that Europe is now seeking to wreck Sami lands to build industrial energy sprawl.😡
Europe wants to boost domestic production of critical mineral to secure energy supplies & power the green transition. But in Norway & Sweden’s Sámi territories, Indigenous communities are pushing back as new mining plans threaten their land & livelihood!

We knew that type NP stream protections were necessarily decades ago, but the process of implementing those protections was drawn out for a quarter century.

This same sort of foot-dragging is responsible for delaying all sorts of necessary environmental protections.

The "experts" and the cops preventing rescue efforts and telling people to stay away from the whale are infuriating. 🤬

A mass-effort by the public is clearly the best chance there is of saving the whale, and people should be allowed to do what they can to help.

Young people leave rural areas for higher education.

To retain young people in rural areas, it is necessary to make it so that they can pursue that higher education fully while remaining in their home town.

Bolstering community colleges is key to creating more cohesive communities.

If @wadnr.bsky.social were to invest in hemp processing facilities, it would enable them to rapidly transition away from from logging as a source of revenue.

In so doing they would provide genuinely sustainable products while supporting farmers and creating many jobs in rural communities. #waleg
Hemp can be used to make pretty much anything, and it's production is much cleaner and more efficient than the traditional ways of obtaining those products.

The more of our supply chain we can transition to hemp, the better. It is one of the most effective methods of #ClimateAction available to us.
