The game is to be sold, not told.
Can anybody explain to me what's wrong with Americans? Why do they always see everything as a "Game" that they must "Win" at? Do they ever have any normal interactions with anything or are they always on the verge of not "Losing" the "Game" (whatever the fuck that "Game" is)?

just extremely belatedly remembered all my undergrad philosophy classes and realized the “murder is always bad” posters are kantians and the “society is better off without him” posters are consequentialists

I just prefer to teach historically, admittedly coz it’s safer. I find most under students are there for the broad metaphysical issues that tie to their other concerns. But if I had my way, I’d be in a real lab.
New blog post: Philosophy of mind has changed a lot, with a truly massive shift toward empirically-informed work — but we still have in place various norms and institutions that were created decades ago and don’t make sense for the field as it is now

The meaning crisis, and how we rescue young men from reactionary politics

Ok no hate but I really don't love this. It takes a simple idiomatic expression of solidarity, adds layers of complication to the metaphor that serve to emphasise difference, but then just reaches basically the same conclusion people used the original similar idiom to get at in the first place.
I love this.
