✨ A few years back I stood outside Wells Cathedral for a full day and photographed the impact of the light on the front facade. I was amazed at the outcome - at how a single entity could morph and change under the changing light. 🌅 #thread

So my daughter is back from Cambridge just for Sunday lunch. She wants a proper roast dinner with roast spuds and Yorkshires. Takes a bit of work on the timing but no problem, we will have a lovely chill time.

I thought. /1

This is the tale of a little frog who could. That frog's name was Rosie the Ribeter. And she could jump over 2 metres. And the problem was, according to science, she shouldn't have. In a minor way, Rosie changed science. In a major way, she showed what science was about.

I wrote this about how to read and why.

Books remain the best technology ever invented to understand life and the world. There is no alternative.

Every book you read helps you build a richer picture of the entire world.

I think the word "important" is overused when it comes to the publication of words. It should be used sparingly.

This new piece of research from @teraallas.bsky.social and co-author Dimitri Zenghellis *is important*.

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

- the stupid tariff policy of the USA is inflationary for them. Negative supply shock
- if Europe doesn't react, it could be a mildly*deflationary* shock here. Cheaper gas...1/

NEW 🧵 Is human intelligence starting to decline?

Recent results from major international tests show that the average person’s capacity to process information, use reasoning and solve novel problems has been falling since around the mid 2010s

What should we make of this?
