Aye. “How could this have happened despite repeated warnings?”

That‘s how it looks, certainly.

It’s not really fit for purpose for a lot of reasons but I suspect there are concerns about the optics of a new build.

IIRC there is an alternative venue for the commons chamber?

They’re going to do nothing until it actually burns down, aren’t they?

It’s mind-blowing. Aside from the thought that Mahmoud appears to be in the wrong party, this is yet another #BlueLabour exercise in costing up to people who hate them while alienating their base.

That’s why “blue Labour” is doomed and was doomed from the start: you cannot make water run uphill. A party whose core electorate for over a decade has been socially liberal university graduates and ethnic minorities cannot sell itself as a party hostile to socially liberal values.

Why I have zero sympathy for Burnham's stance on a GM congestion charge. I understand the politics but it's fantasy to pretend that better public transport will tempt people out of cars, particularly when that public transport requires subsidy to make it attractive.

Bring out the tardigrade again

Christ! Who did you annoy to get that? On the other side of the Pennines, the TPD’s threat of a six-month beach holiday was enough to keep people in line.

If ever you need a sign this country is over-centralised, it’s people in the DfT in Whitehall making decisions about whether a given tram scheme is going ahead or not.

Time to roll this one out again #StupidVanityTruck
