(Hood vs Thomas in Tennessee is one of my particular Civil War interests. I think Grant is a little harsh on Thomas, who wound up absolutely annihilating Leeroy Jenkins Hood.)

"At all events, had I had the power to command both armies, I would not have changed the orders under which he seemed to be acting" is such an amazing burn of Hood's invasion of Tennessee.

It's definitely on my list if it ever doesn't overlap! Sounds like a great time!

Andrew Brailey! Don't think he's on here, but he's a great guy, and this is quite a cool game. Pick up and deliver game on goods in North America in 1835 with varying modes of transportation. Has a bit of a crayon rails feel to me, but cool differences, and quite approachable.

As someone who spent his college years there (on the Canadian side), can confirm. It's a remarkable story.

And closed out today with Littoral Commander and one of my favourites, A Few Acres of Snow. Awesome convention. Thanks to everyone who took the time to play, talk, or just say hi!

And Grant would not approve of games that give Confederate troops better ratings.

Another interesting part of this, Grant's comments on Lew Wallace delaying Jubal Early at Monocacy Junction and how Early might have taken Washington without that. Adds to the case for the importance of that battle. (Marc Leepson's "Desperate Engagement" is a good read on that.)

Definitely, yeah, that is the backstory. But the memoirs are quite good. And it's valuable to have his direct perspective on so much.

Fantastic! Looking forward to playing that with you!

And Grant is very right on the merits of Johnston's delaying tactics for strategic will, especially around the 1864 election. Going to John "Leeroy Jenkins" Bell Hood and his all-out attacks proved disastrous.
