New post just out:

"Who might replace Starmer?"

With pressure growing on the PM, there are a lot of conversations going on in Westminster about who could take over.

Who are the contenders? Who's best placed to win? Would it make any difference?

Who might replace Starmer?
As predicted at the start of the summer, the idea that the Prime Minister might not make it through another year is gaining traction.

Surprised that @vicderbyshire.bsky.social doesn’t understand the economic multiplier here. Every £1 of investment in public services & social security improves lives & better balances the economy
Come on @zackpolanski.bsky.social you know that tax doesn’t pay for anything, government created £ do
Victoria Derbyshire, "You want to spend a lot of public services and welfare, is the wealth tax a panacea?

Zack Polanski, "I don't present it as a panacea. It's not close to a panacea, it's just the start of the things we need to do"

"We need to bring Capital Gains Tax in line with Income Tax"

We are in a recession, by the way. A bad one. Prices are way up. People can't find jobs.

I am plugged into this in a very real way. The stock market is just not important unless you are in the top 10%/1%.

I have not seen a labor market this bad since 2008. The 2nd Great Depression is coming.

Probably the most important but neglected scandal about Mandelson.

Epstein was close to Peter Thiel. Thiel had secret meetings with Cummings and Johnson before Palantir’s 100m contract

Mandelson’s Global Counsel was pitching Thiel’s Palantir to Starmer.

What a carousel of cronyism

When will respected journalists understand that neither of these potential options is remotely necessary or desirable
Thatcher really did us over when she made us think that taxpayers money is an actual thing; when the only money that is a thing is government money
It’s always spend then tax
Either have to accept co-payment as a built in part, raise broadbased taxes or both. Frankly at this point I no longer have opinions on what the best way to fund healthcare in the UK is, I just want someone to advance one of those three real-world options.
