Of all the temples in Kyōto, Jōjakkō-ji's (常寂光寺) seasonal transformations are some of the most beautiful.

Ginkgo (銀杏 'ichō') are rather amazing trees.
They are surprisingly resilient to insects, disease, air pollution, fire and even radiation: a tree 1.1km from the epicentre of the atomic blast in Hiroshima in 1945 shocked scientists by recovering without any deformations.
