I've lived through other times and presidential admins with whom I've disagreed with their rule of law. I even lived through Trump's 1st term. I am not so certain that at any point through those admins have I ever been so cynical or pessimistic as to the direction of our country than I am now. #sad

I didn’t spend years eating dust in places Trump can’t find on a map just to watch flags get waved while neighbors get tear-gassed. Serving this country meant something. But turning your rifle on your own streets? That ain’t service. That’s surrender to fear. And fear don’t wear dog tags.

This Father’s Day, I’ll be reflecting not on ties or tools but on the quiet tragedy of being the age where I already have all the side effects of the drug the doctor’s about to prescribe me.

When we see someone in uniform, we should see someone who has decided to serve their nation to protect us. We should see a friend, a brother, a sister. The decision to serve should be given respect. They put their lives on the line.
