There's an incredible difference between actively trying to minimize civilian casualties versus trying to minimize civilian casualties while NOT trying to NOT cause civilian casualties at the same time.

Not all so-called "collateral damage" is equal.

Sometimes when you have no words and instead only have an overwhelming sense of horror & disgust & anxiety, it's best to say nothing at all & let someone more adept at putting these things into words say everything that needs to be said instead

being mindful of the oxygen of amplification is so critical in antifascist research & reporting on extremism but it is also a real bummer sometimes! my duty is to in-depth research & reporting but the human urge to clown on 'em is so strong! i've got the documents, but i've got great jokes, too!

i am struggling with this! several weird little creeps are starving for engagement and they want to cultivate it by beefing with me. i am gritting my teeth, white knuckling it from the strain of all the good jokes i could make at their expense! i will not give them that gift.

a particularly hard lesson i am never done learning online is when to abstain from an easy dunk. sometimes someone is so desperately hungry for your attention they keep serving you the perfect little morsel to dunk on but the worse punishment for them is to simply ignore it!
