yes! Yes!!
We don’t need to waste heat pretending it isn’t cozy season.

I love this picture of me and my co-worker’s dog because you can tell we are friends. Her name is shelby and she loves showing off her chew toy. puppy dog eyes are from when I stopped belly rubs for one second to take a picture, resumed immediately after.

Its still summer, but it’s always nice to talk about the pleasant weather when in doubt.

“I begin to speak yet pause
I begin to speak yet pause
And say instead, ‘My what a cool and lovely Autumn.”

Did the par-boil, smash and roast on these with peanut oil, garlic and rosemary and they were spectacular! A great food/flavor to effort gardening outcome. Fingerling potatoes in containers a success. Thanks for the idea (I think?) @spindlypete.bsky.social !

Harvested my two smallest potato plants that had mostly died from drought. Extremely promising for a first year growing these. ended up with about 14:1 yield discarding the littlest ones. definitely going to grow again; La Ratte potato from Fedco. Super fun to dig up the tubers also.

y’all wanna see my cat giving her morning wake-up call?
(sound up for little old lady screams) she’s blind and partly deaf
so she yells real loud when she thinks it’s time to get up.
she wants pets, then she’ll eat the kibble that’s already in her bowl. then she gets fresh breakfast.
I love her.

Yessss
Yes!
Im sickos for Charentais melons.
Grew the saddest most half hearted Alvaro (hybrid short season charentais type) last year direct sewing in MA and they were still so good compared to grocery melons.

probably my biggest harvest of the year! still one more out on the vines, and I picked a little early to avoid the Damn Chipmunks getting any more tomatoes (RIP to 2), but I’m satisfied for my little setup (4 tomato plants, 3 pepper plants).

couple of bucks from Zoe and I!
Good Luck and convey our regards to Francie.

I get such a quiet thrill out of seed saving. It’s become a little ritual for me; first fruit of the year set aside to over-ripen, then scrape & dry with my little notes and dates. Feels like I can almost feel all those generations of farmers and gardeners with a hand on my shoulder goin “yes good”.

This is so true. Stood there smiling at these gleaming gems after pickin them;
proud as any cat with a mouse.

In contrast I had a long “we’re done!” rant with the Slicer vine Ive battled for years a couple weeks back that refused to set fruit, only to find it suddenly loaded with a crop after.

Quite happy with how the garden is coming along this year; feels like I really dialed in the peppers and tomatoes.

I do it for Her, tbh.

Havin an elderly kidney cat is such a trip; was genuinely delighted to wake up to screams for breakfast & affection at 0700 because it meant her fluid treatment had her feelin well enough to be hungry and vocal. Set my alarm for another hour and went back to sleep on the couch with her on my lap.

I’m so hyped at how well my peppers are growing this year!
This is my cold hardy smoking pepper (long and curly) and cherry bomb pepper (round). Got some exotic ones from a friend that breeds them growing too! I really feel like trying to create a good zone for native bees paid off this year!

You mix fresh pie cherries into the filling, can also sub cranberries for a tart flavor when they’re not available
July 3, 2025 at 3:22 PM
The “Sumbar” pomegranate is absolutely running riot with blooms this year. Managed to be a lot more consistent with watering and the tree seems to like it, love to see it.

This toad that dug himself a little toad den right up the edge of one of my garden pots, where it stays moist and cool. He eats the bugs that come for my potato plants; a friend.

Pretty much took two days off work to just garden, sew, and spend quality time with her.
June 26, 2025 at 1:55 AM
Yesss Hell yeah Nora. I’m trying to grow potato plants for the first time this year and also having so much fun. It rules. Today I learned what a potato flower looks like!

Alright, taking everyone at their word here; I can’t draw and I just did the literal first thing that came to mind, everyone please be cool.

Living it up medieval style; cold chicken and parsnip pie for dinner tonight.
(Also contains carrot, celery, mushrooms, bit of cheese)

Crunchies
Kibble
And occasionally “junk food” cause it’s not as good for her as her wet food but I give it to her anyway cause she’s at “old cat needs calories” age.

Fruit set on the reliable figs (2 types of fig trees in my garden; workhorses that make 10-18 breakfast fruit bowls per season and divas that make 1-2 fruit that tastes better than any candy). Bonus; a little toad has made a nest in my container garden.
Thank you for your service little man.
