At the UTA board meeting I gave comment regarding the grants applied for and capital spending that is currently going to the SLCentral Station Improvements. It is a disservice to proceed with this plan ahead of the WEConnect Study, especially with other options, like @riograndeplan.bsky.social.
At a conference in Vegas and overheard someone say that some one they are trying to meet is "stuck in the tunnel." I laughed so hard knowing that there is only one tunnel that could be.

I am realizing that Tooele is not as far south as I originally thought (still new here) and that there aren't many Park-N-Ride to make use of. This is more reason to extend the Green Line to 5600 W to at least make the Park-N-Ride there more useful after the fall of the 3500 MAX.

I am here at the December UTA Board Meeting and will be giving live updates. Notable items on the agenda are advancements towards Salt Lake Central with $5 million in additional grant applications and $760k earmarked next year in the 5 Year Capital Plan.
December 3, 2025 at 4:01 PM
The UTA's 5-Year Capital Plan has $760k earmarked next year for the Salt Lake Central Redevelopment. This is more than they have going towards the New Orange Line and Rerouted Red Line at only $500k over the entire 5 years. This is on top of the $3 million already put into Salt Lake Central in 2024.

My local bike shop made it around for 16 years, and made it through "Bidenflation", but couldn't make it through a single year of this administration.
FOX: There is a lot statistics & anecdotes that reflect a downward trend for small business optimism. What can we look forward to for relief?

LOEFFLER: They've struggled under not only Bidenflation, but the massive regulatory agenda of the Biden administration. And then the Democrat shutdown ...

This year Metra did not inform riders about service and fare changes for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Up until today, it was impossible to know that they were only going to charge weekend fares today despite providing full weekday service.

Pace's proposed routes for I-290 and I-88 Express Buses. The Lisle section of the I-88 route has been dropped with service now only planned to Yorktown in Lombard. Starting sections of both routes appear to not use the express way. Possible connections with Metra at Itasca and Berkley.

Says a guy who before taking office probably had TSA Pre-Check with Clear, waited for his plane in the Club Lounges, and would only fly first class. Very few travelers have those luxuries to make flying enjoyable.
Sean Duffy: "Dressing with respect -- whether it's a pair of jeans and a decent shirt, I would encourage people to maybe dress a little better which encourages us to maybe behave a little better. Let's try not to wear slippers and pajamas as we come to the airport."

Metra is advertising using the MD-W line to get to the Schaumburg Christmas Tree Lighting despite the "Schaumburg" train station being 5 miles away with no transit options outside of a Dial-A-Ride that costs twice as much as a regular Pace bus.

If you use today's prices with last year's 8-person basket, the price suddenly it costs more than the $7 per person advertised last year. Many of the fresh foods were substituted with boxed sides or nothing at all. Well except for the cranberry sauce, that you now have to make yourself.

At least there are still some Democrats with back bones. I am looking forward to my vote actually mattering next year.
Breaking: A Utah judge just tossed out Republicans’ gerrymandered map and ordered a new map that will include a new safe Democratic seat.

Utah now joins California in helping to cancel out Trump’s gerrymandering.

Good to know my trip to Mesa Verde National Park was ruined for nothing. I would have preferred to not have to do the entire 11-hour drive from Santa Fe to SLC in one night last month but I wasn't going to pay for the extra days on a car rental if I wasn't able to make a stop there.

When I lived in Evanston and took the UP-N home from late night work calls, it was faster for me to walk the mile home from the train station than wait 18 min for the next P-Dem bus because they had it scheduled to leave 2 min before my train got in.

When Amtrak works it works. Christmas train tickets for getting Lindsay and I between Chicago and Central Illinois and back only cost us $52 ($37 if you include the $15 voucher I got in return for a late train last time around).

My hometown's police department made a post yesterday about safety during Halloween but didn't mention anything about driver safety. I then went on to leave a comment pointing that out only to be accused of speeding by one of my former scoutmasters.

Metra alerts are now relayed via the Transit App, something the CTA has been doing for quite some time. Now Pace is the only other operator of the RTA to not relay said alerts despite Transit being their "Trip Planning App".

Interesting how he brought up the 25 days it took Letlow to be sworn in as this is now day 26 since Grijalva won her election.

MIKE JOHNSON: No, not tomorrow. We couldn't. We wouldn't.

Rail closures like this are why we NEED more bus lanes in the loop. It's a lot easier to bus replace rail service with its own right-of-way when the buses under it also have the same right of way.

The UTA green line is easily the best way to get to the airport assuming flight doesn't depart before service starts or lands after service ends. Hopefully that changes with the introduction of the Orange Line in the next decade.
