Friends, social media isn’t feeding my soul. Anyone who needs me, I have my name at gmail, I’m on linked in, or I’ll check in here irregularly.
This is a blend of stupidity and an arrogance so deep…
These are not serious people.

Seeing some news from @yellowperiltac.bsky.social (on their instagram story) that the ATF is changing form 4473 (FFL transfer to buyer) question number 14 to list “biological sex”.
This is specifically intended to keep trans people from buying guns, so do with that information as you will.

One of the biggest issues with the synthetic text extruding machines is that we have well-formed linguistic output with no accountability. Solution: OpenAI should be accountable for everything that comes out of ChatGPT, period. (And likewise for Google with Gemini, etc.)

steam is apparently allowing "this game had AI in it that it didn't disclose" as a valid return statement, so if you or anyone you know actually paid $70 for slop, get that money back

I mean…is this a surprise?
Chinese state-sponsored hackers used Anthropic’s A.I. technology to conduct a largely automated cyberattack against a group of technology companies and government agencies, the company said Thursday.
Anthropic Says Chinese Hackers Used Its A.I. in Online Attack
The company claimed that A.I. did most of the hacking with limited human input and said it was a rapid escalation of the technology’s use in cybercrime.

I like how full text search of every book and human thought ever was a SOLVED PROBLEM in 2001, and now dicks at search engines and my own phone – a piece of silicon faster to respond than God was ever imagined in scripture – prevent it from working, _as a retroactive infantilizing design choice_.

Incredible stuff on LinkedIn. Cofounder of AI notetaker says they told early customers that there's an "AI that'll join a meeting.” But it was really just him and cofounder joining & manually taking notes. No AI. Comments flame him. He posts reply trying to kind of walk it back. Overall: Total bait.

@isabelaalhadeff.bsky.social has provided absolutely vital reporting on Trump’s deportation campaign. Here’s another can’t-miss story:
Then they came for the Dreamers
Immigrants brought here as children were told they wouldn’t be deported. Now, they’re being targeted anyway.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

The Gender Critical have moved the goal posts again.

It is now not enough for them to exclude trans people from single-sex spaces. They are now complaining about trans people existing in any space with them [even a public space].

They're not protecting women. They're eradicating trans people.

This is not surprising at all. It’s intentional.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Trump’s decision to turn away from from recognition of trans people “is not surprising,” our columnist M. Gessen writes. “What is surprising, however, is doing so in a way that makes passports less useful for identifying people as they move through the world.”

But they’re bad at it. All martial and no art. Which means it’s flawed and can be countered.
Went back to the history of the Sicilian Mafia to illustrate something obvious but worth stating explicitly: The Trump administration behaves like an organized crime syndicate running a protection racket, not a representative government www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Gender is, in fact, ungovernable. Anything that creates an “us” and s “them” is a mechanism of control, whether religious, social, or governmental.
I am older than gender markers on passports! How do you regulate gender? By making it a form of government ID. It has nothing to do with state security, only regulation
