Wes Streeting, "5 MPs, I think the Greens got the same. No one's saying Carla Denyer come on down, are you the next progressive PM?"

"Let's not get carried away by Nigel Farage.. The guy gets so much air time.. Keep it in perspective"

Happy Winter Solstice to all in the northern hemisphere.

The turn of the year's tide, a pivot-point, a day of hope—when the dark stops rising & after which the Sun begins its slow climb back.
A day I celebrate more than Christmas or New Year.

Fiat lux!

Dear people who don’t use the Oxford comma:

It’s never too late to do the right thing. Everyone makes mistakes, and we shouldn’t be judged solely by our pasts. What matters is the here and now. So come over to the right side of history for a fresh, new, and beautiful beginning.

I’ve spent the last 18 months writing about the Roman Empire. In some ways, we’ve progressed immeasurably far in the last 1500 years. But there are still too many things about contemporary politics that I think would have felt all too familiar to them. I persist in my optimism that we can do better.

Oh yes
Ever wondered why walking around museums is weirdly tiring? At normal speed our legs act like pendulums, swinging forward from the hip & saving us a huge amount of energy. In "museum shuffle" our muscles must do ALL the work of constant readjustment. So cake in the cafe is scientifically justified 🥳
