This is simplistic, but where I'm seeing words conflated regarding information retrieval & AI, it's mostly when I think they mean
= automation
= algorithms

Why do you want to have a broad definition of AI? I do not see value in having a broad definition (other than marketing, profits, & trying to signal awareness of tech trends). Is Elasticsearch AI? What about types of query expansion? Lemmatization? Stemming? Why don't we just call everything AI?
