Raising humans, worship pastoring, socials for @ncm.org. I care about: Jesus. Family. Dem O's. Refugees. Justice. That dessert w/ pretzels & strawberries.
I groaned. But when I show my 10 and 12 year olds later, they'll die laughing.
Craig Albernaz makes a 6-7 joke, and his sons, 8 and 6 years old, enjoyed it

It is utterly depressing watching October baseball after the promise the O's showed the last few years. Sigh.

Extremism leads to no good end. Whether it targets individuals, as in today's acts of violence, or entire nations, like 9/11, there is no path involving extremism that leads to flourishing, peace, or reconciliation—for either the extremist or their enemy.

How’s this for Orioles Magic?

Jackson Holliday’s HR was the 4th time in the expansion era (1961) that the Orioles broke up a no-hit bid of 8 2/3 IP or more (@EliasSports)

The 1st of those 4? 6/7/68, on a hit by Davey Johnson, who passed away today

What a way to honor him 🫶

Watch the kid in blue/green come run down to stand behind the two kids in the front row - and the woman who absolutely MUST chastise him for this change of location. In the middle of an INSANE WALK-OFF celebration moment. He's not blocking anyone. I just can't wrap my head around getting that mad.

This is exactly what should happen after children lose their lives in preventable ways - common sense adjustments and restrictions to prevent similar tragedies in the future. It's not hard. It's the only right response.

'No parent should ever have to outlive their child' | Texas Gov. Abbott signs 'Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act' into law
Families of the 27 girls who died at Camp Mystic during the July Fourth floods joined Gov. Abbott on Friday as he signed several youth camp safety bills into law.

I mean, who doesn't love an accidental mic check? Three cheers for tech crews.

Remember when COVID vaccines were first available? Remember how they saved lives and helped us move toward normalcy? Remember how relieved and grateful we were? Remember how amazing our healthcare workers were? Remember how science rescued us?

Just a girl with a new chronic health condition, begging Florida to approve the 2025-26 Covid vaccine...otherwise I may be trying to pay out of pocket for one while on a work trip.

Just another day in paradise, kids.

The world is really, really messed up and cruel in ways that often feel entirely preventable... and so even I, not even close to being a Swiftie, am smiling at all the engagement hubbub. Moments of joy, one's own or observed in others, are beyond essential.

As you watch the extraordinary spectacle of Trump's government attempting to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, let's not lose sight of just how lawless and indefensible Trump's misconduct has been all throughout.

Here's a thread recapping all of it. 1/

This article has me all up in my FEELINGS. I adore these boys and hate that they're having to process this all in the middle of a season and love that they are fighting to stay together and keep traditions going in the clubhouse.

Jordan Westburg would like to see veteran leaders added in the offseason
"I think I speak for Jackson, Gunnar, Adley, myself, we are more reserved, quiet," Westburg said. "We are more lead-by-example guys. This clubhouse doesn’t really have that loud voice, perhaps."

As a freshman music major, we had to read "The Inner Game of Music", based off of the tennis book. It remains one of the most influential things I've read. High-end performance requires so much inner work. Add the chaos players receive online...I'm (mostly) shocked the O's don't have a staff psych.
Yep @banthaskull.bsky.social yelling this at a wall for about 2 years now I think lol
Since last season I’ve been shouting into the void about how the O’s need a PhD sports Psychologist in house so bad. (Plus a team of contract psychologists) All these young kids thrust into the spotlight with minimal support is just brutal and i swear there is something mental going on.

I cannot handle how excited Gunnar, Adley, and Jackson were. I wanted those boys to have such a different year. Bittersweet.

First walkoff since Sept 19?!?! I knew it was long but not THAT long. Worth staying up for, you random lineup of Birds. <3

I have thoughts about performative pro-life (read: anti-abortion) stances. No idea what the OP's opinion on that topic is, but I do know the Venn diagram intersection of people who say they're pro-life+people who whine about the existence of children on airplanes or other public spaces cannot be 0.
a funnier counterpoint to this is that virtually every restaurant in america is child-free after around 7PM or 8PM, if you're regularly encountering children when you go out to dinner, it's because you're eating on a retiree's schedule.
Do these people think children should just be kept in fucking kennels til they deem them cool enough to exist in public?

The kiddo and I were watching the Braves game, waiting for Jen Pawol's first called strikeout. We agree her zone is a little generous, but figure nerves may be playing a part. Wouldn't you know, Kyle Stowers can now say he was the first player she called out.

I love Jim Palmer. Correcting how to correctly pronounce the word Amish? Diplomatically blasting tonight's (lack of a) strike zone? All in a day's work.

Oldest kiddo got school shots today & they were given by the kindest, most compassionate nurse. Turns out she's a refugee from Cuba. We exchanged quick comments on how hard things are right now for immigrants, shaking our heads in dismay. She wouldn't be here without the CAA, and I'm so glad she is.

I got in the car and felt a tickle and look down to see a cockroach (the locals say palmetto bug but that’s too nice a description) crawl across my foot. I’ve turned the car inside out attempting to find it again but there are way too many crevices. If this thing reappears while I’m on a highway…🫣
