“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Do not give up your ability to reason.
Do not give away your need to struggle.
Do not atrophy your capacity to decide.
Do not confuse efficiency for goodness.
Do not monochrome the colors of your voice.
Do not devalue your body.
Do not hand over your mind.
Do not make a machine a god.

Something I love about older women is how they are relentlessly and adorably on theme. Is it fall? She's going with the pumpkin sweatshirt. Home team playing on TV tonight? Packers pin is on and prominent. Valentine's Day? You best believe she's wearing pink and red.

Also, why waste earth's actual resources of water and energy for an army of bot academic assistants to provide feedback on essays students are "writing" with ChatGPT? We are literally feeding the machine.

Bring back bean bag chairs in discussion sections instead. It will have better results.
"Professors would provide" seems to be announcing yet another category of invented work, created by universities spending millions of dollars on tech no one needs and that doesn't work.
Every future imagined by a tech company is worse than the previous iteration.

Another reason so many authors on your feed are furious about that A.I. generated summer reading article, is that in a media landscape where coverage for books is shrinking absolutely everywhere… this is what we get.
