If you have been watching recent disasters unfold and want to understand the basics of their social and political context, I can't recommend Disasterology by my friend and colleague @samlmontano.bsky.social enough. (And I know she won't promote it herself right now.)

No one in my family knew who Charlie Kirk was so I showed them a photo of him and each one of them visibly recoiled.

In spite of The Horrors, 2024 was a pretty good year for me:

-We bought a house
-I'm helping lead a work project I'm incredibly proud of and passionate about
-I started boxing again
-I saw a lot of incredible shows/concerts that brought me a lot of joy
-I've made so many wonderful new friends

Tonight I asked my sister, who among people who are alive today do you think people will remember in 500 years? She said, "Who's our Shakespeare? Maybe Lena Dunham?"

I am very proud of this bathroom but I will never wallpaper again. (We also just finished tiling the floors - they were carpeted when we moved in 🤢.)

I have nothing to contribute to the Die Hard Christmas Movie Discourse, but it is special to me because not only does it take place on my birthday, it literally takes place on the day I was born.

My husband: I had such a stressful dream last night, everything was going wrong at work and my car was full of water.

Me: I had a dream I knew someone named Jeke

It is time.

I have a doctor's appointment today, and while checking in on MyChart I saw that I had a new condition listed. First instinct was, what mysterious new disease have I been diagnosed with now? I looked it up, and the condition is "perfect vision."

Two years ago I got a Bonne Maman Advent calendar and posted reviews of all the jams I received on Instagram. This prompted a colleague, upon hearing me say I don't have any hobbies, to say, "what about jam!" A truly humbling moment.

In a few hours I will have deleted all my socials except for Bluesky, Tumblr and Pinterest. Looking forward to cultivating an extremely chaotic online media diet.
