i think the biggest thing i’m mulling over in my own head is just how little i know. i intellectually understand fascism and its appeal but i can’t actually bridge the intellectual gap to a place of emotional understanding. i feel foolish, ignorant, and utterly naive

You have to separate this from your personal disgust or disbelief - he has a very strong base of voters mad about inflation, crime, and immigration - and those are the subjects most voters cite as most important to them. The gaffes and bizarre statements are nothing in comparison.

Driving home from work and saw an arrow sign pointing down a suburban street with the word Beer written on it. I almost went down there just to see wtf they meant. I mean, aside from there being beer there.
