Really excited by the influx of poets and poetry lovers on Bluesky this weekend. Hi!

By way of introduction, here’s a poem of mine published in the Best Canadian Poetry anthology many moons ago. Hoping to share newer stuff very soon!
Sure, this whole Canucks-in-fighter-jets thing is cool but to market to me I’m gonna need Garland in progressive lenses, reading a Sharon Olds poem and sucking Dairymilk squares.

Genuinely moved when I reunited Lily with Florian, her deceased poltergeist fiancée, on Fishdom this morning if you want to know my mental state these days.

Pictured: one unbothered tyke on a bike. Out of frame: at least 30 people unabashedly hucking leaves in the air and taking selfies 🍂🍁🍃 (Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver)

‘I Want My Loved Ones to Go With Me’ by Noah Cyrus is one of the most perfect albums I’ve heard in years. If you like gorgeous mournful lap-steel country that confirms loving someone is absolutely a shit deal, give it a listen. Again, perfection.

Really sad to discover that the City of Vancouver has ended Mountain View Cemetery’s Night for All Souls. It feels incredibly out of touch to take away a beautiful community event that helps people move through innumerable types of grief, particularly this year. Hopefully it’s just a pause.

Seascraper may not have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize today, but I felt this novel deeply and I’m so proud of my friend for his discipline and brilliance in writing it #benjaminwood #bookerprize
Somewhat bemused that this book didn't make the Booker shortlist, so wanted to spread some additional love for this beautiful and quietly powerful read. ❤

Jeff Hiller deserved every bit of that Emmy. Somebody Somewhere was so special and Joel’s character was the beating heart of it. I really hope the show can be revived someday.

The last 18 months have mentally and physically filleted me, and I can’t tell you how happy I am knowing hockey is back soon. I don’t even care about the Cup anymore. I just want to see Conor and Brock and Quinn and Thatcher and all the other guys that sound like they’re from Dead Poets Society.
