When all protest becomes ‘terror’, we have imprisoned ourselves as well as the demonstrators

@natashawalter.bsky.social on Palestine Action how language has been used to strip the Palestine Action hunger strikers of humanity.

The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Today’s column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP.

I'm writing about the Palestine Action hunger strikers at the moment, any of whom could die at any moment, and the astonishing media and government silence surrounding them. The Establishment seems to have become even crueller than when Thatcher was PM.

Sovereignty? Democracy? Sorry, but we can't afford those anymore. We'll be sued if we try to defend them.
This week's column is about a massive but scarcely-covered scandal.

We live in a country where if you say it drives you mad seeing so many black people and Asian people on TV it is up for discussion whether that is racist.

I liked it when Left-wing parties were antifascist.
There is always money for war, never for the poor.

Every penny spent on bombs, tanks and missiles is stolen from our homes, schools and hospitals.

We are not going to take it anymore.

Do not debate genocide deniers. Deniers of all genocides - from Armenia to the Holocaust to Rwanda to Bosnia to Gaza - must all be treated the same way: with disgust.

Provide diplomatic cover, weapons and espionage support for war criminals.
Arrest those protesting against war crimes as terrorists.
How many people voted for this?

At our demonstration today, I'm holding a placard stating
"I support
Palestine.
Action
must be taken."
My aim is to highlight the absurdity of the government dictating what can and cannot be said by peace-seeking people

Just received news that 27 people have been arrested in Parliament Square under the Terrorism Act 2000 for holding signs saying "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action".
This is real police state behaviour.

If thousands of us stand up and say "I support #PalestineAction", what is the government going to do? Lock us all up for "terrorism" offences?
This is where we show them how solidarity works.

The genocidaires are saying that the humanitarian workers they handcuffed and personally executed one by one with shots to the head and then hid in a mass grave “were Hamas”. But you know what? This is a war crime and part of a genocide even if they were - and you should never believe the IDF anyway

The West will never be forgiven for its complicity in the genocide of Palestinians. No one will ever again listen to its empty rhetoric about accountability, human rights and rule of law. They have proven right those who long believed they did not see racialised people as human

Fight fascists at every fucking turn. Even if you think you’re going to lose the battle. You make every inch they gain painful.

This isn’t a difficult concept.

The pandemic conditioned people to see the disabled as acceptable losses

Once you sacrifice an entire group of people, it gets easier for fascism to take hold.

The Spanish flu gave way to Nazis, where the disabled were the first people killed.

Want to fight fascism? Engage in disability justice
