In other news, I recommend today's Daily Podcast, about the parents of a trans girl who just had to flee Tennessee for Connecticut in order to protect her. The parents are both Southerners and ministers, and had idea what "trans" was until they had to learn.

It's still conventional wisdom among pundits that Republicans beat Democrats because Democrats are too focused on transgender people and our rights, but voters are quickly realizing it's the other way around.

You banned a middle schooler from field hockey and guess what? Johnny still can't read.

Someone sat down recently and thought, “A good thing to say would be, ‘I know a thing or two about the American elite, ahem.’”
Someday you, too, could have the moral fortitude to look upon a years-long rape circus organized by the nation's most powerful elites and declare, "The people upset about this are speaking about it the wrong way."

Omar El Akkad's One Day, Everyone will have Always Been Against This has won the National Book Award. This is a deserving, necessary win. His words need to be on all of our minds and in all of our hearts.

"When it mattered, who sided with justice and who sided with power?"

“Search history,” a poem (by me)

How to prepare duck breast
In the fall of democracy,
And protect overwintering bees
And immigrants.
De-icing your freezer
And town square,
And saying what you mean
To get a knee off your chest.

Six ways to make casserole
Without health insurance.

Listen to me and listen to me very carefully.

Donald Trump today named 5 Democratic lawmakers that are, in his words, committing seditious acts and the punishment for that is death.

Some MAGA nutjob will take this as a signal to take some action.

When Trump was asked about the release of the Epstein files, he called one reporter "piggy" and said another was "being insubordinate."

When Trump saw a video calling on the military to follow the constitution, he called for the death of the Democrats who made the video.

He's a tyrant.

Florida just became the 1st state to implement the Phoenix Declaration, a curriculum written by the Heritage Foundation, not Florida teachers. Our kids need resources, not ideology. Our classrooms deserve honesty, not politics. FL-21 deserves better.

"Things happen" sometimes, like when you walk into an embassy to apply for your marriage license while your bride-to-be waits outside, but then you get bonesawed to pieces for having exercised freedom of speech as an US-based journalist and have to be carried out in a series of suitcases.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."
