Female academics are much more affected by the birth of a child than are male academics.

Academic mothers are much more likely to...

◾temporarily leave the labor force

◾and, if they return, shift away from tenure-track positions.

My dear friend and colleague @chrisdworschak.bsky.social is kicking off #NEPS2025, presenting fascinating work with @kmross.bsky.social on conflict forecasting using… music data! 🎶📈

“Rhythms to riot” is already setting the tone for a brilliant few days of peace science!

🔐 Day 2 of our #OpenScience Summer School @gasparugent.bsky.social zoomed in on... preregistration !

Why? When? How? And... what if I mess up?

We tackled it with hands-on exercises and open, honest conversations.

Our community must take this issue very seriously!

ideally, we'd post these publicly:
raw_no_pii.csv
cleaning.R
clean.rds
analysis.R

but destroy or archive privately:
raw.csv
remove_pii.R

(was glad to see in this thread political science apparently does better than other fields but still)
We did not want to start the week like this, but here we are. Yet again our chair’s inbox is filled with messages from replicators who have opened “replication” folders only to find names, Social Insurance Numbers, mental-health diagnoses and incomes of study participants. 🧵
