The people of western North Carolina are desperate for help from their state government. Yet, the legislative Republicans just enacted a power grab, not hurricane relief. To use folks’ incredible need for aid as a cloak for their political pettiness is frankly despicable.

I feel so defeated living in this state sometimes. Calling/emailing/speaking out doesn’t make a difference with these crooked politicians. 🙄
SB 382, the "Sore Loser" bill Republicans passed yesterday over Gov. Cooper's veto, spends $0 new dollars for Western NC.
But it does spend $250,000 dollars to fund a GOP-stacked state government agency's lawsuits against coastal local governments. 🤷♂️

The North Carolina bill shifting power to the GOP was written in secret and brought forth as a conference committee report so it could not be amended. The original bill was a six-page measure that dealt with the state Dental Practice Act.
