At GSA, in the Biden administration, we were determined to build as much federal EV infrastructure as quickly as possible: buy vehicles, run greater power capacity to facilities, install chargers. Because a Republican administration wouldn’t undo all of *that*.

Yet here we are:
👀 Scoop: Trump and Republicans want USPS to sell off its brand new EVs and chargers.

That would mean literally **ripping up post office parking lots** to auction off assets with no private-sector value.

It’s buried in the Senate’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Republicans will claim Padilla — one of the kindest people I know — is a menacing man who stormed the briefing with smoke coming out of his ears.

But the video doesn't lie.

He didn’t lunge. He announced himself. He just wanted answers.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

This gets to the heart of it.
It's so so important to understand that these technologies are absolutely failing within a market context, they all lose a ton of money and are set to lose more, the only path to profit for these vultures is to attach themselves to educational and government institutions.
The article itself is studiously balanced. (To a fault to my mind, but that's my perspective.) But this very dry paragraph in the middle is the whole deal. Why would an educational institution make this leap without any evidence of efficacy?

Fair warning, authors
So, I think it's time I begin, in detailed specifics, talking about the mess that is Unbound / Boundless as a book publisher, in essence stealing most of a years royalties from me and many other authors, as a result of poor financial decisions, and legal BS.

Please read and share this thread.

Today’s NY Post headline looking like it’s straight out of 2020 is something else. This may pour a little cold water on the whole “mild” part though.

Good luck out there.

About half of all births are covered by Medicaid.

Over a third of all kids have health care thanks to Medicaid.

More than half of all nursing home residents are covered by Medicaid.

So understand this: when the GOP attacks Medicaid, they attack families in every community.

My latest for @janefriedman.com. Time was, you could step up and help an indie author with the tech sides of self-publishing. Nowadays, not so much.
As someone who used to assist authors in self-publishing, I can't imagine trying to do it today. Too many headaches!

Read what @amcarley.bsky.social recently experienced trying to help a client publish and distribute via Amazon KDP and IngramSpark.
Self-Publishing Assistance Is Becoming Threatened | Jane Friedman
In an attempt to crack down on bad actors, KDP and IngramSpark have made it very difficult for anyone but the author to publish a book there.
